The next morning we crawled out of bed and had the idea of crepes for breakfast, so at 1pm with our impecable navigation skills we tracked down the most parisian chic creperie. BEST BARCELONA DISCOVERY. From the absolutly enchanting french music, to the slogan 'crepes and cocktails'...from the 2 page long menu listings, and crystal chandeliers; Barcelona Crepes was amazing. On December 17th, all of the AFS scholarship students and I met in Konya, Turkey for a celebration of Rumi or Mevlana in Türkish. Rumi is a well known poet around the world, as well as a major figure in Islam. He died on December 17, 1273 and was the father of mysticism. The main event of us coming to Konya, home of Rumi on his death day, was to watch a special performance of the religious ritual Sema- or the swirling dervishes. Read more.

For anyone who's forgotten, Hitzacker was the Musikfreizeit that we went to over Christmas vacation. Musikfreizeit translates literally to "Music free time", but that's kind of vague... It was basically a week-long music camp. There were about 150 people there, all ages. Probably 30 or 40 were between 15 and 25. Read more.

Things have been pretty exciting over here in Iceland. Where to start off...

On the first weekend of December, I went with Gio´s family to a summer house a couple of hours away from Reykjavik. It was so nice being in the country and sitting in the hot tub looking up at the stars. On our last night there, Gio and I got to see our first northern lights! It was so beautiful even though it wasn´t as strong and luminous as we hoped, but it was still amazing. Gio called it 'the dark side of a rainbow' and that is exactly as it looked. Read more.

My school is literally 30 steps from my house, and is very small, but cute! It has about 10 classrooms and about 150 students. My class consists of about 15 students, that have all been together since kindergarten, and will be together until they graduate, all day, everyday of the week. I have classes from 7-11:30 and gym at 5 in the afternoon. I REALLY like my classmates, and have made friends with all of them! Read more.

These are some videos I took during my first weeks in Norway. I think it is absolutely beautiful to stand on the top of a mountain and look out. Nature is such a wonderful thing. So calming and peaceful.

Now things have finally slowed down a little bit after the holiday season. It almost dosen't feel like it was Christmas and that were into 2010...Buena noche or Christmas Eve isn't very significant here in Catalunya it's more the day of the 25 and then the 26th, so I felt like there wasen't much build up for Christmas day. Everyone in my family slept in, and naturally my inner child had me wake up at 7am which is early by all means in Spain! Kind of meandered around the kitchen, sunbathed in the living room, took a shower...and then at around 10 my parents woke up. Read more.

Well, the new year is here and started off with a bang - always a good sign! Last minute I was invited to a folk dance concert. There were dances from all around Egypt and maybe all around the Middle East. The costumes were fabulous and the music was live! It made me want to learn how to dance even more. Read more.
